Narrow Boat Phoenix

At 40’ long Phoenix is an extremely spacious hire boat, laid out as follows:

The upper deck is open and free of seats, perfect if you want to escape the gang further back and watch the world slowly pass by!

phoenix1The central deck is open and fitted with bench seats along the full length. 4 x 1 metre cushions (2 each side) are provided for your added comfort. A small pedestal table is provided in this area where you can keep drinks, snacks etc. The central deck is fitted with plastic roll down covers that can easily be lowered during inclement weather.

Moving further back we have the covered area. One side Is taken up by the WC and wash basin. We provide toilet rolls, paper hand towels and antibacterial soap liquid. Opposite Is the galley kitchen with 4 hob gas cooker and kettle. We provide tea, coffee, fresh milk, teaspoons and mugs. Should you wish to cook/ warm your own food no problem; but you’d need to bring your own pans, crockery, cutlery etc. The galley contains the safety essentials: fire extinguishers and fire blanket.

phoenix3Up the steps at the back takes you to where the boat is steered. Quite unusually for a hire boat; this area is a large ‘cruiser style’ deck. Three or four couple can congregate here. The controls are straightforward; a tiller for steering and a single control lever for forward gear, neutral, reverse gear and engine speed.

Underneath the cruiser deck and out of sight is the modern diesel engine. An Isuzu, it’s fully insulated for sound and connected to the outside world via a ‘hospital’ type silencer. This set up is very quiet, aiding to the relaxation you should enjoy during this lovely day out.

Rebirth of the Phoenix

The Trafalgar Marine Phoenix project was launched in 2006 when they viewed a burnt out canal boat at Marple BWB yard.
The 42ft boat was in quite a state after teenage vandals had set it (and another two boats) alight early one winter morning…..
